Born on February 8, 1953, Mary Steenburgen is an American actress, comedian, singer, and songwriter from Newport, Arkansas.
The actress was married to Malcolm McDowell, her co-star in Time After Time, and had two children before she met Ted Danson: her present husband.
Steenburgen enrolled at Hendrix College to study drama in 1971 and later traveled to Dallas to audition for Neighborhood Playhouse.
