Jake’s mother Amy Goldschmidt was a collegiate athlete. She graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing but is currently a full-time housewife. However, his father Paul Edward Goldschmidt is an American professional baseball first baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball.

Paul had his amateur baseball career at The Woodlands High School and at Texas State University where he played college baseball for the Texas State Bobcats baseball team.

In 2008 and 2009, he was named the Southland Conference hitter of the year and also the Southland player of the year.

Paul Goldschmidt was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 8th round of the 2009 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut with the Diamondbacks in 2011, and they traded him to the Cardinals during the 2018–19 offseason.

In March 2019, Paul signed a five-year contract extension worth $130 million with the Cardinals.
