Trent DiGiuro was supposed to be the starting offensive lineman for his college football team, the Kentucky Wildcats, in 1994.
However, DiGiuro was tragically murdered shortly before his senior season.

The case became stalled once more, and six years later, the police received a call from a local attorney with information about the case.
According to the attorney, his client, Aimee Lloyd dated Shane Ragland, a 26-year-old computer programmer from Frankfort, Kentucky.
Aimee stated that she and Shane had been drinking at a bar and discussing the worst things they’d ever done. Shane, she claimed, confessed to shooting Trent.
Shane Ragland, the alleged murderer, also traveled to the United Kingdom.
According to NBC News, Ragland blamed the Kentucky football player for him “being blackballed from a fraternity.”
Evans then met with the woman to plan a sting operation.

According to NBC, Ragland was eventually apprehended and charged with murder.
He was initially convicted of murder with intent. Ragland was then convicted and sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Ragland subsequently pled guilty to second-degree manslaughter. According to the Courier-Journal, he was released in 2007.

DiGiuro finished spring practice as Kentucky’s starting right guard in 1994.
According to UK’s website, he even set the team record for bench press during the offseason.
He was coming off a year in which he earned SEC Academic Honor Roll honors.
