Ryan Yamamoto is a two-time Emmy award-winning reporter who has been with KOMO News since June 2016. He previously worked in Sacramento as a Weekend News Anchor, Reporter, and Sports Anchor for over 16 years.
After graduating from San Francisco State University in 1994, Yamamoto began his journalism career in Columbia, Missouri. Afterward, he worked as a Weekend News Ancho in Pocatello, Idaho, until settling in Sacramento in 1998. He began his sports career in 2005 in San Diego, then moved to Sacramento to work as a Sports Anchor before returning to news in 2015.
In like manner, the reporter made his debut as a filmmaker in June 2016 when he directed and produced a documentary about American Olympic weightlifter Tommy Kono. The film was broadcast on local PBS stations around the country.
